Hey there! You're probably wondering "Who the heck is this chao??? How are they
able to build up a web site like this so quickly in the year 2k22 that actually works on my 1999-years-old
console?? WHO exactly are they???" Well, look no further, because you've come to the right
place.
That said, hello! You might know me on the Internet as gameaddict30 or
Sertimus (the Chao) [he/they]. I
actually very much prefer the latter for the affinity towards my sona, who is a chao that looks like
Sonic but not really? But they did start out as a Sonic look-a-like, actually.
They were originally a roleplay character I made for a very old Sonic forum but was harshly received for
being yet another recolor of Sonic. I then added some fur patterns which I ended up being more satisfied
with but it was still being received as a recolor, so at that point I was feeling a little disappointed,
however I remember playing around in the Chao Garden a lot in SA2, so I tried turning them into a chao
and they have stuck with me ever since. I personally find chao to be one of the most relatable
creatures of the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
So, what do I do exactly? Well, you're now seeing this webpage which I've authored; all by scratch, in my
editor of choice (VSCode). I actually had to do a bit of research before going about this task too; the web
standards that existed at the time of the Dreamcast's release had since been deprecated and a lot of the modern
Web now has websites that are heavily driven by stylesheets, Javascript and Web fonts. Some modern Web sites
are also encrypted with TLS, which do not work with most if not all Sega Dreamcast Web browsers, unless you're
on a DreamPi and have a Web Rendering Proxy running
on it. Heck, you're lucky if you manage to view that link on your Dreamcast console. And especially that W3
Validator button on the bottom of this page.
My interests also extend beyond web design/dev. As my former name implies, I play video games. I talk about them
once in a while on my social media, too. Most of my favorite games consist of action/adventure platformers and racing
games, but I'm usually more than happy to expand the two genres. For instance, I've played puzzle games, first-person
shooters, shoot-em-ups, MMOs, side-scroller fighting games, what-have-you.
If I had to pick, though, my favorite racing game of all time would have to be Daytona USA for the SEGA Model 2 arcade
platform. Action/adventure platforming is a
hard call, though. I grew up with Sonic and I could tell you about the first few games as well as some modern 3D
Sonic games, as well as Sonic Mania (which is probs my most fav in the series to date). I also loved playing the mainline
Klonoa games and some parts of of the Kirby series.
Beyond web dev, I also write software once in a blue moon. To be honest, I don't have a specific direction/application I'm
currently seeking but I have learned programming and scripting languages such as C, C#, C++, Java, Javascript, PHP, LUA,
GML (Game Maker Language) and a bit of Python. Some of these, though, I have not actively used in the past few years
or have completely abandoned. I can probably say a lot of my focus nowadays is on web dev, where I create both client-side
and server-side Web applications.
I also like to draw pretty pictures and create some types of graphics! For the latter you're already seeing some examples of
this, especially in the menu bar. More importantly, I also like to draw cartoon-styled characters of various shapes and sizes.
This may also include furry/anthro characters, which a lot of my galleries consist of. There's also some fanart I do of popular
franchises/IPs here and there, though I often like to draw for smaller communities (e.g. furries) as well!
I really don't know what else I can say here other than thanks for visiting my Web page! And especially for reading this to
the very end. I can't promise I'll update this version of my site often as it's very likely going to be a one-off sort of
thing, but I will update its contents with up-to-date, relevant information when needed. In the meantime, enjoy your stay!
